Madison Ashworth, LAC Intern

I am so glad you are here. I'd like to welcome you on a journey together where we can co-create a space for your most authentic, unmasked self. Together, we can laugh, cry, play, pause, and explore the facets of who you are and who you are becoming. Whether you are feeling dissociated, detached, or lost to the throes of life, we will walk down your path side-by-side to help you find your footing again.

As someone who values the therapy of presence, play, and curiosity, our time together can be an eclectic blend of the tools that help you feel grounded and safe. Our sessions can look like a shared feeling, creating art, or working on a puzzle while talking about difficult (or special interest) topics. It can also look like using mindful breathing while we are together to build resilience, and then writing poetry outside our sessions to bring to the surface what may have been difficult to express. I believe that holding mindful space for both our sorrows and our joys is the best facilitator of healing, and together we can practice using the tools that help you mindfully explore both your wounds and your wins.

I focus on working with people who, like myself, are neurodivergent and living with seen and unseen challenges. Whether you are struggling with your identity, navigating life with anxiety, or unable to get out of bed because of the weight of depression, it would be a privilege to work with you. Having started my nonprofit, Pushing Past PMDD, in 2020, and as an active partner of the International Association for Premenstrual Disorders, my clinical interests also include working with people with premenstrual disorders like Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD), and those who identify as a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP).

Alongside my work with adults, I am also passionate about working with children and adolescents. As someone who is young at heart, my inner child finds joy in sharing my energy with children. Having supported youth in a variety of environments over the last 10 years, I am honored to help them work through their fears, anger, and insecurities, and rediscover their natural sense of contentment, creativity, and play.

My therapeutic approach is warm, relaxed, and curious. I pull from theories like Somatic Internal Family Systems (S-IFS), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Child-Centered (and adult-centered) Play Therapy, Art Therapy, and Person-Centered Therapy. My focus is always on connecting with you in a way that feels supportive and collaborative.

I am excited to continue along this journey with you. Wherever this winding path goes, I would be honored to travel alongside you, whether sheltering in the stormy weather or walking under clear skies.
